Remoter Anywhere
Reach your Windows PC from Remoter on your Android phone or tablet, from anywhere: no ports to open on your router, no VPN, no address to remember. Install Remoter Agent on the PC, pair your phone once by scanning a code, and connect wherever you are.
Try it free for one month. Subscribe in the Remoter app, and the first month is free if you haven’t had Remoter Anywhere before. Google Play asks for a payment method, and the subscription renews monthly after the trial unless you cancel it in Google Play.
You need:
- Remoter for Android, with a Remoter Anywhere subscription. It’s sold in the app, covers up to 10 computers in 30 days and 2 sessions at a time under the fair-use terms, and includes all of Remoter Premium. Remoter Agent itself is free.
- A PC with Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11.
- Remote access turned on at the PC: Remote Desktop on Windows Pro, Enterprise or Education (Remoter Agent offers to turn it on), or a VNC server on Windows Home.
Download Remoter Agent
Not sure which? Open Settings › System › About on the PC. System type says x64-based processor or ARM-based processor.
Install it
- Open the file you downloaded.
- Windows may show Windows protected your PC. Our installer isn’t signed with a code-signing certificate yet, so Windows doesn’t recognize it. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Approve the administrator prompt. Remoter Agent installs a background service that starts with Windows, so the PC stays reachable after a restart, even before anyone signs in.
- Remoter Agent’s icon appears next to the clock (click ^ if you don’t see it). Click it: it should say Online as your PC’s name.
- If the icon’s menu says remote access is off, follow it: on Windows Pro, choose Turn on Remote Desktop…. On Windows Home, set up TightVNC as described in the setup guide, including Allow loopback connections.
Pair your phone
- On the PC, click Remoter Agent’s icon and choose Pair a phone…. A window opens with a QR code.
- Scan it with your phone’s camera, or in Remoter open the menu in your list of connections and choose Pair a Computer. Each code works once, for 5 minutes.
- Confirm in Remoter. The PC appears in your list of connections. Tap it to connect, and sign in with your Windows account.
To pair another phone or tablet, show a new code. To stop a phone from connecting, choose Paired phones in the icon’s menu and click the phone.
How it keeps your PC private
- Remoter Agent only makes outgoing connections, to the Remoter Anywhere relay. It opens no ports on your PC or your router, and doesn’t change your firewall.
- Sessions are encrypted end to end between your phone and your PC. The relay passes them along, but can’t read them.
- Only phones you paired can connect, and Windows still asks for your password.
Details are in the privacy policy.
Troubleshooting
The icon says “Offline”
Remoter Agent can’t reach the relay. Check that the PC is connected to the
internet. On a network that limits outgoing connections, Remoter Agent needs HTTPS (port
443) to relay.remoter.ca.
The icon says the service isn’t running
Restart the PC. If that doesn’t help, uninstall Remoter Agent and install it again; your paired phones are kept.
Remoter says the computer is offline
The PC is switched off, asleep or not connected to the internet. Set it not to go to sleep while you need to reach it.
Remoter says remote access is turned off on the computer
Remoter Agent is online, but nothing on the PC accepts the connection. Turn on Remote Desktop, or on Windows Home TightVNC with loopback connections allowed.
Uninstall
Open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Remoter Agent
and choose Uninstall. Its key and the list of paired phones stay in
C:\ProgramData\Remoter, so that reinstalling keeps your phones paired. Delete
that folder to remove them too.

C:\ProgramData\Remoter\agent.log. Opening it needs an administrator account.
